My name is Annie. I was born and raised in Santa Cruz California, and moved to Portland in 2004 to play music. I found out about Wayfinding Academy, very serendipitously, in mid 2016 and was immediately drawn to it, excited by the possibilities of the innovative, wholistic, hands-on style of education it offered. As I learned more about Wayfinding and its mission, I found myself wishing that it had been around when I was in college. It had been years since I got my BA and I had no immediate plans to go back to school. I quickly realized, however, that this was no excuse for me not to become a student there. And so I did.
After my first term at Wayfinding I can already say that this is a life changing experience. I am inspired daily by the vision and enthusiasm of the staff and faculty. My fellow classmates are a remarkable group of people from whom I am constantly learning. I am totally excited about my classes, and am already experiencing the usefulness and real-world application of the Wayfinding curriculum. On the whole, my time at Wayfinding is encouraging me to grow and to become a better, stronger, more conscious person. Becoming a student here is one of the best decisions I ever made!
Hey! My name is Austin. I chose Wayfinding after realizing traditional school was not the right path for me. I have a deep passion for energizing and motivating others and bringing people together for good causes. My dream is to design environments that allow people to reconnect with their creativity. My theory is that what we are naturally inclined to create says a lot about who we are and how we really want to express ourselves.
Clara is a joke seeker and collector of stories. She seeks to cultivate spaces where through the simplistic joy of making people can heal and laugh. She's diving in head first as a student at Wayfinding Academy, and is enthralled with documenting every minute of it! Clara is also a fiber artist who is always working on new knitting or design projects. She is always down for a pot of tea and a good old fashion Harry Potter marathon, should the need arise.
Good day world. My prescribed name is Tucker. I don't know who I am. I do however know that I am curious. I seem to meter between identity crisis and a general acceptance of my affliction. Based on my patterns of sordid behavior, it has been my committment for the last year and a half to tell the truth regardless of the hariest circumstance. This means not only undiluted expression within myself but creating safe safe for contemporaries alike.
The reason for Wayfinding: I swing back and forth between inhabiting the vortex of the universe and embodying a placid human being. I want to know why, but more importantly, how. I am at a place where it is no longer necessary to exclude and deride myself from the rest of the world because of some misguided belief, and therefore, seek to explore alongside my comrades and community.
The word passion has started to annoy me, and yet it fits the description so well. However, I prefer to call it a visceral arousal. As I grow, the ambiance becomes the focus, while the action is secondary. That being said, spiritual awakening has made its way to the forefront of my childlike fascinations and curiosities. I am also a big proponent of hard work and the faculty it delivers.
The Wayfinding Academy helps me to feel empowered enough to put these ideas and feelings into words.
