LIFE AND DEATH IN MEDIEVAL EUROPE (Session 3 of 4)

  • Wayfinding Academy 8010 NORTH CHARLESTON AVENUE Portland, OR 97203 (map)

with Tiffany D. Vann Sprecher

History is the study of who we are: the story of where we came from and of our becoming. In this Lab, we’ll use medieval history as a way to examine with fresh eyes topics that engross us today. Using the medieval life cycle as a framework for thinking of our own lives, we’ll begin the Lab by learning about childbirth and notions of childhood.

We’ll move on to explore how people developed their identities; how they worked, partied, loved, fought, and made up (or feuded for literally hundreds of years); and we’ll explore medieval conceptions of death and life after death. The Lab will consist of reading, discussion, short lectures and activities including playing games and eating historical food. We’ll learn about our medieval past, and see ourselves reflected therein.

Lab registrations are non-refundable
